Fluoridation of drinking water is ever so emblematic of the technocratic state’s arrogant policy misadventures - many if not most of them. After many years of rule accretion (think a scatological analogy to the addition of nacreous layers to form a pearl), their now-reflexive normalcy (and other) bias and more importantly, their blind lust for power, lead them to be promiscuous in their rule making.
Were they sensible, with an actual smidgeon of humility and motivated to actually promote the “public good”, they would be much more circumspect in their rule promulgation - especially those many to which criminal penalties attach for non-observance! Again and again, these wizards descend to blatantly-sinful hubris and act as though they were oligarchs with complete understanding and control of incomprehensibly complex systems like a civil (or even a military) society. It is painfully obvious, empirically, that nothing could be further from the truth. Ask almost any sentient “beneficiary” of most any federal policy. Note that it is a feature and not a bug of said policy to strategically reduce the number of said sentient individuals. QED.
