J.D. Vance is Trump's VP pick

Isn’t it though that the book got picked up by Hollywood for a movie adaptation distributed by Netflix. Looks it did not make much money, the budget was $45M. It came out in 2020, starring Glen Close. The movie was good, emotional in parts, with an uplifting Horatio Alger storyline.

Wow. I don’t remember seeing that movie but a quick check of my IMDb ratings shows that I saw it on November 25, 2020. I do recall reading the book when it came out and thinking it was meh. Apparently, the movie was even less memorable.

The book was promoted by a bunch of right-wingers at the time, not just Peter Robinson and Hoover. Is your thesis that Netflix involvement makes it left-wing? The film was directed by Ron Howard, whose films are not especially political. He can smell a good story and make a successful film out of it. I mean, it’s not like Michael Moore or some other lefty rage-head made the movie.

I saw a trailer. The child actor who plays Vance actually resembles him!

Yes, correct. Glenn Close was the star anchoring the movie – isn’t she fairly left leaning and vocal about it? Her performance in the movie was nominated for a best supporting actress award at the Oscars, Golden Globe awards, and SAG awards.

Hillbilly Elegy was released in select cinemas on November 11, 2020, before its streaming release on November 24, 2020, by Netflix, to a mostly negative reception. It received three nominations at the Golden Raspberry Awards: Worst Director for Howard, Worst Screenplay for Taylor, and Worst Supporting Actress for Close. Close was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, while Adams’s performance earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Okay, so this shows the kooks hated it. Hardly a ringing endorsement from the Left.

Netflix involvement, per se, is not enough to mean it is Regime approved. They didn’t produce it, merely released it. As for Close and the other carnies… er… actors, they just say the lines. Many of them are probably too stupid to know what they mean.

Are there other recent examples of “right leaning” biographical works that got picked up by Hollywood and made into movies released in the last 5-10 years? Is this an exception or the norm, albeit on a small sample scale.

It may just be an exception. Maybe these examples are right-wing-ish:
Sound of Freedom: Lefties hated this movie, claiming it was some kind of far-right conspiracy. The main guy behind the project, Jim Caviezel, is a known right-winger.
The Northman: While this isn’t exactly right-leaning, it has zero diversity and celebrates masculine virtues, i.e., toxic masculinity. It has several big-name Hollywood actors.

I liked both movies, which is saying a lot because there have been precious few I can stand made since 2010 or so.

This will be tough to beat

In Mr Vance, the former president has chosen a running mate who is a strong advocate of crypto, having previously reported owning holdings of Bitcoin worth between $100,000 to $250,000 on the Coinbase platform.

Yes, and did you see his mom last night? She looks like an aging version of Amy Adams, the actress who played her in the movie. Great hair!
(Maybe he shoulda asked Glenn Close to reprise her rôle as Mamaw for last night. Now, THAT performance was a tour de force! )

Is JD Vance similar to Barak Obama - here’s an interesting article

“.… writes a book …

The parallels between Vance & Obama are quite striking – but there is a difference. It seems quite certain that Vance actually wrote his book himself, whereas it seems fairly probable that Obama’s books were ghost-written. Is that a telling difference?

Probably not. They’re both creatures of the swamp as far as I’m concerned.

Finished JD Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy” and it confirms my suspicion about the reason he’s being paraded around like a clanging jackpot bell in a Vegas casino. But probably the most important thing you need to understand about JD Vance is his relationship to VDARE’s demise:

For years – almost since its creation – I implored my contacts with VDARE (such as Randall Burns) to push two ideas, the most important of which was:

Immigration limited to only single childless women of mating age and women with children that were sired by American men.

The fucking idiots ignored me.

JD Vance is the male camel’s nose in the tent now.

PS: You can’t castrate your military base with male immigration and get away with “explaining” the demoralization of that base in the manner that JD Vance does.

You just can’t, mesopredators.

Get ready to die.

I don’t know. The “old” US benefitted substantially from allowing the immigration of males like Andrew Carnegie and Elon Musk. But since we are talking about policies which will never be adopted (well, not until after the Coming Collapse), let me suggest a better alternative: –

Young American men are encouraged (mandated?) to go overseas and bring back the finest gene pool-enhancing examples of Foreign Femininity that will marry them: a civilized version of Rome’s Rape of the Sabine Women.

This would just be a temporary measure, until the baleful influence of today’s educational system on young American women has been totally purged from the system.

Is this suggestion tongue-in-cheek? I don’t know.

My suggestion was for VDARE in the circumstances present during period of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.

People can’t seem to wrap their heads around the evolutionary psychology of birth control and abortion and since I can’t educate them, the best that can be done to educate them seems to be to get them to think about the implications of a sexist immigration policy. I’d hoped at least the late Randall Burns would have been able to see the strategic advantage of getting VDARE out of the “racist” category and into the “sexist” category while at the same time digging deep into the evolutionary psychology of masculine territory.

It’s too late now, of course. VDARE is gone and so is Randy.

PS: I’m perfectly aware that the two big names in VDARE, Brimelow and Derbyshire would be advocating against their own inclusion on US soil. But think about the power of Brimelow and Derbyshire both volunteering to return to the UK with their respective wives if the policy were adopted.
