“Stick and a Banana” [![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/XrHJPvRuMLs/maxresdefault.jpg "F-14 Tomcat Pilot's Song About RIOs is Hilarious (and True)") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrHJPvRuMLs) Veteran F-14 Tomcat pilot, Tom “D-Day” Lucas, wrote this pop country song titled “Stick and a Banana” as a tribute to radar intercept officers. As D-Day put it, “RIOs were the guys building the picture, calling the fight, running the radar, and occasionally guiding the new pilots around like a chimp chasing a banana on a stick. Built from real ready-room humor, Tomcat culture, and life in the F-14.” ![image](https://scanalyst.fourmilab.ch/uploads/default/original/3X/5/1/51cf9b0b8bec754168953313efc8b59927b03b35.jpeg) --- _[View the full topic](https://scanalyst.fourmilab.ch/t/modern-warfare/3858)._
