Fair enough. But there is an enormous difference between creating a net on one’s own territory and trying to drop repeaters onto territory controlled by someone else.
Inevitably, those repeaters will be found and – with some creative engineering – used against the side that dropped the repeater. Once the net is accessed (and corrupted) by the opponent, the side that dropped the repeater will no longer be able to trust anything within its own net.
True but only to a degree. Remember, this net is a passive net, so it only passes on info presented to it. Not like ab internet, where sensitive data is passed. So first they have to find a passive net which is not active all the tine, then either hunt down each repeater in a wide area or the net is not taken down. The most effective method of combating such a net is jamming. THAT only takes out the jammed area; signal can be routed around the jammer.
The Ukrainians know where their cheap disposable repeater boxes are, they can set up anti-tamper alerts and tell the nearest artillery where to shoot if the alarm goes off.
Or possibly just have them explode, either to destroy any encryption keys or the whole box plus bystanders, but that is asking for trouble on the handling end. The Israelis can give them tips. Thinking about it, you’d want to destroy the keys once you get to low batteries, and a little C4 or Semtex would certainly do that.
“In six months, drone pilots will no longer be needed”: “Madjar” explains how war will drastically change
By Bohdan Frolov
In the next 6-8 months, Ukraine will no longer need people to operate drones – the war will become truly unmanned, said Robert Brovdi, commander of the UAV special unit “Madjar’s Birds,” in an interview with Zanny Minton Beddoes, editor-in-chief of The Economist. According to him, the evolution of such technologies will lead to artificial intelligence becoming the primary tool in warfare, as drones already perform 50% of all “strike activities.”
“Currently, hundreds of AI systems are being developed and tested in experimental modes. In six months, pilots will no longer be needed. People will only be required to lift the drone a meter off the ground. From there, the drone, depending on its development, will decide what to attack, how to distinguish a ‘Zhiguli’ from a tank, and will definitely not confuse a Ukrainian with an enemy,” said “Madjar.”
He added that such challenges should not be viewed with skepticism. Instead, the military commander suggests taking them seriously and investing in these technologies promptly.
Furthermore, Brovdi emphasized that in Ukraine, hundreds of specialists are honing their skills at the cost of lives and the experience gained over years of combat. Madjar noted that “tomorrow,” these experienced fighters might travel to various countries around the world to train NATO armies in the latest warfare tactics.
“This will be part of our practical gratitude for your support in our fight for freedom, for our land, and for our families,” he concluded.
Earlier, UNIAN reported that UAV carriers of FPV drones are becoming more popular at the front. This has significantly increased the range of drone usage. As a result, the Russians have been able to reach targets in Ukraine 40 km from the front line.
Additionally, Budanov stated that drones would increasingly replace soldiers in Ukraine. This applies to ground robots, which will be used in large numbers to replace assault units.
In that case, victory will go to whatever combatant has the largest capacity to manufacture the various kinds of aerial and surface drones – and the capacity to manufacture the largest numbers of the inevitable large number of anti-drone systems which will be developed.
Unfortunately, that side with the manufacturing capacity is not the Ukraine, nor is it Europe, nor is it the US. The “arsenal of democracy” has been offshored.
Just as an aside, here is a reasoned view from Sweden that the US “government” could not even organize a military draft these days. This feeds my fear that if Kamela won’t back down when faced with losing proxy wars against Russians, Iranians, Houthis (and she likely won’t), the only arrow left in her quiver would be to go nuclear.
"What do Napoleon, America’s Army War College and the liberal media have in common? The centuries-old belief that conscription is the “vitality of the nation”. With the US military hamstrung by a catastrophic personnel problem, the “draft” is being handed a new lease of life. Maybe, murmurs the DC think-tank circuit, conscription could provide America with the proverbial shot in the arm it needs …
Right now, even if America wanted a draft, the entire administrative apparatus required to actually implement it no longer exists. Just as Rome eventually forgot how to muster its legions or maintain its roads and bridges, so too has the US government forgotten how to quickly gather hundreds of thousands of men under arms. The systems necessary to do so have been destroyed through decades of malign neglect, and they probably can’t be brought back at all, let alone repaired on short notice. …."
Just imagine what caliber of soldier would result?? The coddled young snowflakes could not even be pressed into an effective, cohesive snowball, much less a fighting forces. They have been primed by the educational establishment to be a band of (br)others. Can you imagine attempting military discipline on SJW’s? The officers would never be able to turn their backs, lest they get fragged.
The end result. This is who watches over us every day, every hour, ready to fight and die if needed. It is up to us to insure these young men do not get “used” without a very real reason and plan. We are the voters and we are responsible for these young lives.
China’s newest nuclear-powered attack submarine sank in the spring, a major setback for one of the country’s priority weapons programs, U.S. officials said.
The episode, which Chinese authorities scrambled to cover up and hasn’t previously been disclosed, occurred at a shipyard near Wuhan in late May or early June.
For sure all nations today are developing drones in all shapes and colours.
And no matter what we can imagine they will be very effective on the battlefield but also eventually to control the civilian population in cities and also in remote areas.
However only the few nations with the capacity to develop and deploy and detonate a nuke in the upper atmosphere (an EMP) will truly control the battlefield.
And after the EMP a solid ground force is necessary to secure the battlefield.
Logistics! Logistics! Logistics! it is interesting that an enemy does not need to sink an entire USN carrier group. Just take out the oiler and the carrier group will go away.
Now, about fighting China on the other side of the world over Taiwan – China has massive logistical support sitting right on the shore line, while the US has a tenuous 10,000 mile supply line back to the US West Coast. Do Our Betters have to start a war to realize who is going to win that contest?
