As is so often the case, the [Kingdom of Tonga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.to) played a part in the development of this emerging technology. In Robert Heinlein’s 1947 young adult novel _[Rocket Ship Galileo](https://www.fourmilab.ch/documents/reading_list/?book=1001)_, the Moon ship was built from a surplus mail delivery rocket.
