“_Master Plan Part 3 is all about achieving very large scale. In order to shift the entire energy infrastructure and transport infrastructure of earth, there has to be a very high scale. We have to ask what is the actual tonnage?_”
Well, if that recent Finnish geological report is anywhere near to correct, the answer will be that the Earth does not have enough key mineral resources to shift the entire infrastructure – not with currently known technology, anyway. The transportation side would need different battery technology, and the only way to generate enough electric power would be through vast numbers of breeder-type nuclear power stations.
Musk is a very smart man. He must already know this. So what is his real plan?

I’m hoping for a cold fusion device that, unlike Rossi’s, actually works
