It appears to be Fact that the term-expired deputies in the Ukraine’s “democratic” assembly did indeed vote to stop local elections. If the NYT chose not to report that Fact, so be it. It is a reflection of the current insanity of the West that Facts can be characterized as anything other than “impartial”. ---

It is also worth remembering that the US of the 1940s did manage to hold a nation-wide Presidential election in the middle of a global conflagration when millions of citizens were overseas in combat. This is not a direct parallel to the situation in the Ukraine, but it does suggest that a regime that was truly interested in “democracy” could at least find ways to hold local elections in much of the country. The decision not to do so suggests that the current regime in the Ukraine is afraid of what the results of such local elections might show. But let’s keep borrowing money to give to Zelensky in the name of defending “democracy”! ---
