The team measured the quantitative distances of 44 European languages, allowing them to create the above graph, where each node represents a language and the edge represents the distance between the node on the node on the other side.
I would only take issue with “Macedonian” and “Bosnian”. Those are both dialects of Serbian. Just as we wouldn’t say we speak “American”, or even more narrowly, “Bostonian”, those fit the same category. There is no Macedonian-English or Bosnian-English translation book, just as there isn’t a “Mississippi-English” translation book.
Ryan McBeth theory that the dam was not intentionally destroyed. Russians were only using one gate near their side. Having only one gate open may cause overtopping and having it always be the same gate may cause local scour to breach the dam.
The most credible theory is the “slow dambusters” scenario – the Zelensky regime floated a number of sea mines down the river which eventually struck the dam. This also explains other explosions which happened around the same time along the banks of the reservoir. Further, this would be consistent with the Zelensky regime’s prior actions in opening flood gates on other upstream reservoirs to increase the water flow down the Dneiper.
Of course, it could also have been the “Three Men in a Boat” scenario which seems to be Western media’s preferred explanation for events which might not reflect well on the US, NATO, and Zelensky. How easy is it to rent a boat in Poland, load it with explosives, and sail down the Dneiper?
Remember the popular (among certain parties) proposed explanation for the destruction of the NordStream pipelines? Drunken ignorant incompetent Russian operators had somehow caused an ice plug to form in the shut-in gas pipelines and then had caused the ice plug to accelerate in the non-moving gas and run into a non-existent bend in the pipe causing the pipeline to rupture? And those worthless operators had managed to do this almost simultaneously in 3 out of the 4 pipelines?
Compared to the hypothesis of drunken ignorant incompetent Russian operators causing a scour problem at the dam, this NordStream destruction hypothesis which partisans grabbed onto so desperately was almost rational. But we don’t hear it much any more. Draw your own conclusions.
A billion here a billion there. Once the rest of the world realizes how valuable it is to issue the world reserve currency for international trade it will be all over for the US dollar purchasing power.
That is accelerating the creation of US dollars so that our corrupt Elites can buy lots of gold and other commodities with it in the black market. Watch for the ones that are purchasing land outside United states.
The contents of that letter have now been declassified by the Clinton presidential library and appear prophetic.
How convenient that the warmongers would declassify this now. Given the Media’s willingness to completely distort the truth and play mouthpiece for the deep state, one can predict that it was intended to provide the basis for Russia/Putin bad stories.
From Yahoo:
predicting accurately that relations between Moscow and Kyiv would deteriorate and that someone like Putin could come to power.
Thanks for the PDF link. I read it and I did not see Nixon make this prediction.
From Yahoo:
Nixon foresaw that relations between Russia and Ukraine would dissolve. He called the situation in Ukraine “highly explosive.”
“If it is allowed to get out of control,” Nixon told Clinton, “it will make Bosnia look like a PTA garden party.”
The actual full quote from the PDF. This has nothing to do with Russian Ukraine relations. It is about problems within Ukraine itself.
The question this really raises is why is it ok for the United States to meddle in the elections of foreign governments which Nixon is advocating. It is bad for Russia to try to influence US elections and good for the US to try to influence Russian and Ukraine elections.
President Nixon’s comment in this 1994 document is striking: “I went on to say [to the American media] that what was most important is that we not allow that issue [Clinton’s Whitewater scandal] or any other domestic issue to divert attention from our major foreign policy priority – the survival of political and economic freedom in Russia”.
Yet NATO (which effectively is the US) continued to treat Russia as if it were still the USSR enemy, and from 1999 onwards aggressively pushed NATO’s boundaries eastwards, ever closer to Russia – not the kind of threatening behavior which would be expected to contribute to the survival of political and economic freedom in Russia.
President Nixon’s obvious contempt for the US Foreign Service appears to have been unfortunately well-founded.
I have renamed this topic, which began on 2022-02-21, as “Ukraine and Russia: War and Consequences”, as it has become the home of all things related to that conflict.
