Tree of Woe is a bit of an acquired taste. Nevertheless, this post does present a very interesting perspective.
(100) The West’s Warhammer Moment
When the reader reaches the guts of the thesis, he finds this observation on the declining cost to kill a human being:
“The second factor is the inflation-adjusted cost of building the weapon of mass destruction. In 1945, Little Boy cost $9.3 billion and killed 140,000, yielding a cost per death of $66,000. In 1964, the SADM cost around $0.61 million and could kill 20,000, for a cost per death of $30. In 1993, 100kg of aerosolized anthrax would cost under $0.1 million, requiring just a team of five biologists and readily-available lab equipment, and might kill 130,000 to 1,400,000, for a cost per death of $0.77 to $0.08. In 2025, a DIY CRISPR-grade garage lab can be acquired for under $10,000 and used to create an engineered pandemic that could kill 10,000,000 or more, for a cost per death of $0.001. On the log–log plot below, cost-per-death plunges by more than 4 orders of magnitude in 80 years.”
The first factor the author references is the increasing absolute number of sociopaths on the planet as the population increases, and an additional factor is the rapid dissemination of the knowledge & technology to create an artificial pandemic. Combining factors, the possible event will become an inevitability.
I would add that the experience of the CovidScam demonstrates that - when such an event happens – the actions of governments will make it worse.
But keep smiling and look on the bright side – no need to lose sleep over that unrepayable National Debt!
