Remember that old cartoon? WWII Japanese general looking at a map, with his head in his hands, very unhappy. The map showed the Japanese 1st Division, 2nd Division, 3rd Division all converging on a bridge. But on the bridge a single name was posted – John Wayne.
I thought of that when reading this report about fearsome Europe’s decisive action to protect frozen Greenland from their NATO ally:
“France sends 15 soldiers, Germany 13. Norway, Sweden also participating to bolster security on Arctic island.”
15 Frenchmen? Well, it is Europe; maybe they are not men? Will the French and German soldiers revert to history and fight each other? The world waits with bated breath.
