Aviation Accidents

The first video I saw of the actual crash appeared on RT.com this morning. It appears to have begun with a very hard landing and right wing fracture at the root prior to roll to inverted.

Did snow on runway affect depth perception so that the pilot thought they had a bit more altitude than they did?

Or wind shear? But, it did not seem to have a sudden nose drop.

Both depth perception error and wind shear are high on the list of possibilities. Some of the Youtube videos of landings of many types of aircraft in such conditions are hair raising, to say the least, and most all those shown ended with the aircraft in one piece. Not breaking up or frankly crashing, of course, does not rule out structural damage. It does appear that it was windy, but a clear picture of conditions will likely first appear - as usual - on Blancolirio’s Youtube channel. I keep checking.

apparently not true (I’ll blame it on Pakistani media not fact checking – and relying on unreliable US alt-right sources):

Not consistent with radio transmissions. The all-female crew was an advertising gimmick.

Delta has not released names of pilot and crew. They won’t name names unlike Elia Kazan.

Turns out they were half right, which is a much better track record than the legacy media.

This is indeed a worthy question. Crew resource management is, indeed, an important safety practice. Previously, our cultural wisdom allowed us to go slowly and prudently when it came to introducing novel male - female interactions in high-stakes environments, like cockpits (no pun intended; are they now henpits, when ‘unmanned’?) and frontline battlefields. No longer. Leftist ideology uber alles.

Odd that damages are quoted in SDRs.

Much to unpack. One takeaway implicates ATC. Pilot from same helo base said he did not recall witnessing runway 33 landings. But says many times ATC told him to hold at a point further away. He suspects those were the times an aircraft was landing on 33.

The CVR did not record the accident flight and during the audition it was determined
that the CVR had likely not been recording audio for several years.
