Camp of the Saints

I was in Portugal about a decade ago. Portugal was being so rapidly de-populated in the mid 2010s that they actually TRIED to get the Syrian refugees to come in ( a laffriot since they spent decades trying to get and keep Muz out). But they only got 30. Thirty. Portugal was too far north .
All this just to say: I can’t imagine what Spain is going to do with these people, but it’s too bad Spain and Portugal never cooperate on anything, because Portugal would probably be happy to get ‘em.

The “mostly peaceful protests” of 2026.

Spanish journalist: here we can see thousands of Moroccan women and children who emigrate seeking a better life
they’re all men

There are several clichéd phrases I think should be banned, chief among them, “a better life”. Also, “in the shadows”, and (it’s a tie) “nation of immigrants”.

Yeah they want a better life—yours.

In the shadows, when they parade down our main streets waving flags of other countries?

And no we effing are NOT a nation of immigrants, my more than any other country is. Any more than Australia is a “nation of convicts”

I don’t read Spanish but my impression is Spanish journalists are applauding this flood. It’s just what France does in Camp of the Saints.

Not only that but the journo is saying “… women and children are crossing over” in spite of the fact that there are exactly zero women or children in the video. That’s why it is a mostly peaceful protest moment. What are you going to believe? Your own lying eyes or that very trustworthy reporter?

son todos hombres means they’re all men.

Oh, thanks! . I thought maybe that meant “they’re all just people” y’know, like, they’re just folks like you and me….

Rod Dreher over at the FreePress has caught up with us here, writing about Camp of the Saints. But this scene is not “like” that book: it IS that book enacted.

I’ve tried to find out what our country did with those hundreds of “Military-aged” Muslim men who crammed into the planes when we left Afghanistan. Did they just disappear into the heartland?

There’s no Elsewhere any more. The exotic (and I use that word literally, not in its connotation of mysterious and enticing) are now right in our faces. Up our noses. And they don’t smell good.

Even the Spanish state-owned media can’t hide the truth, admitting that these are economic migrants. It would be too big a lie, even for the Regime journos, They did find one woman to interview among the thousands of military-age men. They also found a migrant from Sudan, so it’s not just Moroccans.

Thousands of migrants are traveling through Ceuta amid the chaos: "We want a better life than we have in Morocco.”
