darned cable company "bots"... ( just venting, sorry )

Well yet again the internet went down.

I called on a LAND LINE, ( as I would never give Xfinity my cell number, that would be a disaster), and the dratted bots do not recognize that I DO NOT have a cell number registered with Xfinity. It keeps asking to send me a link to my land line or text to my land line and to surf to an Xfinity site with my land line, but the bot eventually says “Good Bye”.

I did get to talk with someone finally, hard to understand them foreigners that have English as a second language. She even wanted me to connect my TV to the secondary WIFI, even though my Roku Box is a wired connection and not WIFI. After over an hour they said they would send someone out.

Also they must have got a three years running upgrade to my Netgear CM2050 modem as that could only be the cause of the phone working but the internet down. That would explain why finally I connected and my upload dropped from about 78 Mbps to a shade over 20 Mbps. At the peak my upload was about 87 Mbps and download peaked at 599 Mbps

It could be that a Xfinity truck was parked across the street from my house when the sign in my front yard says that I signed up for Fiber Optic internet.

Nawh, why would they do that?

I did the factory reset on my modem with a paperclip. Couldn’t hurt as I was not getting anything. It somewhat worked.

Anyhow with a Xfinity bill of $142.85 that I just paid, and always pay on time, I get no breaks, Not even because I’m a veteran or that I just turned 73.

But here’s something, the new Fiber Optic company in my city will give me 1Gig down and 1Gig up and a phone line with anywhere in the U.S. calling for $58.87 with a three year price lock. After that it would be $83.87. I couldn’t get anyone on Xfinity customer retention, after listening to music for 24 minutes, to get a price match. So I signed up for Fiber Optic.

So I signed up, that’s why the sign in my front yard about the Fiber Optic system.

Sorry xfinity, you have too many quirks that are dissatisfying to customers, like hard to understand foreigners answering your calls that read, (not too well), from a script, bots that prevent one from getting human help.

Come the new year, after about 20 years, It’ll be “sayonara” xfinity.

Congrats!

I am stuck with Spectrum. I have looked into Starlink as an alternative.
