On January 24, 2022, the 287 metre tall transmitting tower in Spanish Fort, Alabama, which has served WKRG-TV, broadcasting to the Mobile Alabama and Pensacola, Florida areas, since 1957 was taken down by explosive demolition by Controlled Demolition, Inc. The demolition proceeded as planned, with no damage outside the exclusion area.
