While I enjoyed observing this macroscopically in my bog garden earlier this year, never failing to be entranced by the visible miracle of frog spawn to tadpoles to perfect froglet, then tiny frogs, this was beyond entrancing.

The differentiation of pluripotent cells remains the same mystery it was when I studied it 50 years ago. That, and how cells “know” how to arrange themselves in 3 dimensional space to assume the body form of that particular species is rather miraculous.

The title alliteration reminds me of “Poisoning pigeons in the park”. Might that have been the inspiration, despite Lehrer referring to aves vs invertebrate crustaceans here.
