Do you ever know where to put the apostrophe in that phrase? I reckon I did it right, cuz it’s ALL of our fathers, right, whether we’re thinking individually or collectively.
As we approach our country"s 250th birthday, we think of our “Founding Fathers” ,those prescient Virginians born into and raised In the plantation system who nonetheless created a governmental framework which would abolish slavery.
But I also think, as I know all you dear polymaths do, of my own father,
I wasn’t a kid when he died, I was 38! But I’m different now from who I was then. Would he like me now?
I venture to think he would. And the thought gives me extreme pleasure.
Happy Fathers’ Day to all of you who are fathers, and sons ( and daughters)!
