Follow the Duck—Scott Manley in Zero G

Scott Manley was given a free promotional flight on Zero-G Corporation’s G-FORCE ONE, a 1970s vintage Boeing 727-200 which flies parabolic arcs to provide passengers around twenty seconds of weightlessness or simulated lunar or Mars gravity. Zero-G provides microgravity research and training flights to NASA as a contractor, replacing NASA’s previous aircraft for that purpose.

In addition to the microgravity experience, Scott got a chance to visit the cockpit and talk to the crew about how they fly the parabolas and how the vintage aircraft does the job with only minor modifications from its original configuration.

Here is a follow-up video with details on the modifications to the Boeing 727 for zero gravity flight, why its engine configuration is ideal for precision-flying a parabolic trajectory, and even a bit of history of the air stairs and the “Cooper vane”.
