The name of Elon Musk’s AI – “Grok” – is, of course, a nod to the word invented in Robert Heinlein’s Stranger in a Strange Land. Its human-like nature brings to mind “Mike”, the sentient computer in Heinlein’s classic The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, about which the narrator said:
If was one thing all people took for granted, was conviction that if you feed honest figures into a computer, honest figures come out. Never doubted it myself till I met a computer with a sense of humor.
