Something happened that should never have happened. Fortunately, President Trump is alive … but there was collateral damage. Other citizens died or were injured. The focus of attention should be on Ms. Cheatle’s Secret Service … but that probably will be swept under the rug.

There are 3 possibilities for Secret Service involvement:

  1. Gross incompetence, focusing on DIE and simply failing to take the obvious step of commanding the high spots around the rally. This is hopefully the most likely explanation for Ms. Cheatle’s deadly failure.

  2. Deliberate failure to perform, leaving open the possibility for any happenstance “lone gunman” to take advantage of the situation. This, after all, is the same Secret Service that is refusing to provide protection to RFK. Not good, and deserving serious punishment if shown to be the case.

  3. Actual involvement in the assassination attempt, facilitating the opportunity for a known “lone gunman” to take a shot. That would be traitorous, and Ms. Cheatle should be required to undergo a stringent highly public investigation to demonstrate that the Secret Service may be incompetent but it is not part of the Dark Side.

Yes, both are possible. Do you feel emotionally manipulated? Do you feel like you’re being corralled into a certain way of thinking and into drawing certain conclusions? Well, I do…kind of like how I felt on 9/11…and I vowed to never let anyone control me like that ever again.

There’s a fourth possibility…that the SS (with the possible collision of Trump) staged a failed attempt and made it look like a 1, 2 or 3.

Logically, yes. But that would have required a shooter with skills that even William Tell would have envied. After all, Tell only had to shoot the apple above his son’s head.

Conspiracy theorists are speculating that Crooke was a mere patsy whose shots missed President Trump, there to be a distraction from the real assassin who was further away, perhaps on an unguarded water tower. If only we could have confidence that FedGov would investigate properly and report openly. However, the controversy still surrounding the JFK assassination suggests that is a forlorn hope.

The FBI is investigating. Oh good! The FBI whose director decided not to prosecute Clinton for her extreme carelessness and negligence with our national security? The FBI whose director cheerfully admitted that he deliberately entrapped Michael Flynn? The FBI whose director leaked information to the press but did not admit to it until weeks later? The FBI that raided Mar a Lago and then fucked with the documents it seized? Oh, WELL then! It’s in good hands……
I’d rather the Pa State Police do it. At least they endorsed Trump.
I have been biking and walking and swimming on this beautiful and yes hot summer day, but no amount of sweat and exertion can burn away my anger and frustration.
I wish Trump hadn’t taken Bullseye Biden’s phone call last night. And I wish he would announce that he has no faith in the FBI and he is hiring his own investigators.

From my perspective there are several things you guys (and gals) are missing, mostly about the shooter.

First of all, it is someone who is familiar with firearms and rifle shooting. The weapon appears to have been sighted in properly. The shot, too, was a logical shot for an experienced but not trained distance shooting person. The distance of 80 yards is hardly out of the envelope of an AR shooting either .223 or military 5.56 ammo. An AR is an accurate rifle to, say, 400 yds, maybe a bit less. 80 is a piece of cake.

However, he missed. (Brings to mind the great Reagan quip at the Berlin speech, when there was a sound that sounded a fair bit like a shot, he said, without breaking rhythm of his speech, “Missed me!”) Missing that much at that distance is not hard, if you are shooting a normal 55 gr bullet in a .223 or 5.56 NATO loading. Wind drift can account for the shift in impact point. ONE reason most hunters wait to take a static shot and don’t generally fire on running deer (or they do - and miss). CERTAINLY a slight misalignment of sights plus wind will do it. BUT that does not happen to military trained snipers! They’re just too good to miss an 80 yd shot.

Next, the two on the roof are most likely local PD, not SS. Note the body armor in the pic. SS would not be wearing armor with the tag “POLICE” on the back. Not that those guys couldn’t make the shot, but they would be far less likely to shoot absent an overt act. So while the guy on the roof looked like he had a rifle, he may not have, and unless he actually took a shot, PD snipers would not likely shoot without a green light from a supervisor.

All this points to a less-than-professional shooter. One that knows how to shoot but isn’t schooled in actual sniping. You may now expound on any “conspiracy theories” you wish. Recollect only that the media - and the government - were absolutely adamant it was Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK. Seemed then, and more so today, that it wasn’t.

PS: the dark patch on the inside of the SS agent’s coat is a standard tailoring thing for the SS, where a suede patch is sewn into the inside of the jacket where the side arm rides, to keep the weapon from fraying the lining easily and prematurely retiring the usefulness of the garment. (You’re welcome.)

I was wondering about this.

The fact that these buildings are not secured is odd. Somehow the shooter got on the roof. There is a picture of an extension ladder leading to the roof tucked in behind a tree. I have no idea if this is a real photo, but the shooter either had a ladder in place prior to the event or carried a ladder up to the building during the event. If the former, it is hard to believe the SS missed this or simply didn’t even check the buildings and the later seems very hard to pull off without getting seen.

When Bush Jr visited my little home town, they said the SS searched and secured all structures that would give a vantage point to the school where he would later speak.

There is also the video of the three female SS agents near Trump’s ride. These agents don’t know what they are doing. One struggles to holster her weapon and one apparently in a mini panic. My guess is that they are rookie agents and I guess you need to assign rookie agents to duty at some point, but they looked untrained.

There is a rumor that additional resources had been requested and not provided. We know that RFJ jr is not being provided protection. Both should be unacceptable to the American people.

Take a look at the prior response graphically illustrating the relative positions of the shooter and Trump and tell me it matters how many “resources” of the kind provided by the SS would have been helpful?

My estimate? It’s like one of those stories about how many people you can fit into a cube a mile on each edge. Enough SS agents and you’ll simply suffocate the shooter. Not that you’ll also suffocate the crowd and Trump as well of course – we can ignore the sacrifice of SS agents in the big NPC pile since they’re supposed to sacrifice their lives to stop shooters. They’re just not supposed to sacrifice their charges in the process. Oh well. What are ya gonna do? Life’s tough! Maybe if you recruited all those military aged men who are flooding over the border into the SS that would do the trick. I hear there’s lots more where they came from!

I drove past this Butler Farm Show Airport for 12 years on my way to work in Butler. I have flown into the airport numerous times. I’m familiar with the site and used Google Maps (the only thing I ever use them for) to plot the distance shooter to grandstand: 461 feet. So, a little farther than @Devereaux said, and in no way invalidates his statements. I think Trump also turned/moved his head at the last instant. That, too, may have been a determining factor in the outcome.

Politically and socially, I think this is a “teachable moment”. There were multiple victims here and one of them may have been an impressionable, likely disturbed young man of 20. He, like the rest of us, has been immersed in a scurrilous degree of hatred of Trump and his supporters for nearly 8 continuous years. This was a planned campaign of hatred by people who knew or should have known this would be the inevitable result - Democrat Party operatives and the MSM, who were aiders and abettors. Calling Trump “Hitler” for 8 years has consequences. Surprise. In passing, it is also unimaginable that the SS (pun) allowed a line of sight roof available 150 yards from someone they are protecting. The best it can be is gross incompetence. Reminiscent of Epstein’s jailhouse “suicide” where the cameras were all mysteriously not working. State = federal incompetence vs. malevolence. You pick.

I actually wrote to Trump and suggested he use this episode to point this out, calmly and compassionately. It will not affect the true blue haters, but it might change some remaining open minds. This might just as well have been planned. In the context of the forces aligned against Trump and his supporters, the Democrat Party and operatives are as guilty as the poor marionette whose strings they surely pulled. Treason!

So far, it looks like the shooter was….nobody. I hope they’ll find some evidence of his political leanings if he had any. (Of course everybody knows by now he was a registered Republican. Great.) But from everything we hear, he was just a puny white kid with cooties. And of course: ”So… quiet!” Was he like Hinckley, had some fantasy about impressing a particular person? Did he maybe just wanna make some NOISE in the world for a change?
Well, our champion was spared by a hair’s breadth. That is more than I even dared to hope for when I dashed off the beginning of this thread last night! And no matter who wields the gun, courage and presence of mind are impressive under fire.

But look for the Left to turn this on us, into yet another tool in their anti-Second Amendment toolbox.

An anti-climax. But I’ll take it, gladly! And so good night dear polymaths. I’m glad to have had you all to commiserate with these awful past 24 hours.

I don’t think it’s this complicated and I didn’t learn a damned thing from this. The Left is full of kooks who will stop at nothing to attain their ends. If the 2020 election, J6, the anti-Trump lawfare, and the Summer of Love didn’t convince you, I’ve got nothing for it.

We’re way past teachable moments (a phrase popularized by the execrable Obama). If you want to learn about this moment, pick up a copy Carl Schmitt’s The Concept of the Political and read up on the friend-enemy distinction.

My wife says the MSM is reporting he was on the HS competitive shooting team - but was kicked off. Wonder why. ?Was he too crazy to remain on but they ginned up some excuse to get him away from firearms. ?Or is he a patsy like Oswald, who I never really accepted as A shooter, much less THE LONE shooter of JFK. Not much of that story hung together even back then, and it hasn’t aged any over time. This is beginning to smell like the same kind of thing.

?Did anyone catch the two female SS agents supposedly “guarding” Trump. One was so flustered she couldn’t reholster her weapon, and the other one just froze. Didn’t move - ice on the road. ?How did these two get on the detail guarding Trump.

There are way, way, WAY too many questions that will probably never be answered. And I wonder if anyone’s head at SS will roll. I would expect the head to resign and Biden to accept her resignation. It’s the honourable and right thing to do.
