Kamu San -- What's Going On?

I live a very sheltered life, and thus was completely ignorant of the phenomenon of “kamu san” (Subject Three) until this video popped up for some unknown reason on my You Tube feed. Seemingly, everyone on the Eurasian landmass is joining in this dance – shopgirls, Chinese wedding parties, pedestrians, South Koreans, nuns, Arabs, Slavs doing it in the snow, Philippinos showing how it should be done, African villagers putting their best foot forwards.

I have not been aware of anything like this since South Korea gave us “Gangnam Style” back in 2012.

Could there be echoes of the North American Indians “Ghost Dance” of the late 1800s, signifying the transformational end of society? Or are people across many societies showing the unity of the human race, just having a good time?

Amusing but it’s no Gangnam Style.

Yes, Gangnam Style came from a happier age. Who can forget some of the wonderful parodies!
