There were no fatalities or injuries in the accident, but the airplane was damaged beyond repair and will be written off. This is the 17th hull loss of an Korean Air plane since 1970. The overrun occurred on the third landing attempt after two go-arounds due to thunderstorms in the vicinity of the airport. Here is more on Korean Air flight 631.
Given the variabilities of weather conditions and the sheer number of takeoffs/landings, the fact that overruns are so rare is very impressive, indeed - similarly for commercial aviation mishaps, generally.
