Life Among the Natives - Chinese Edition

Feng Timo, a marginally-successful Chinese singer with an interesting voice, made a music video of a pleasant little song set among the ethnic Li people of China’s Hainan Island, about 600 miles south-west of Taiwan. There is a definite pre-woke “National Geographic” vibe about this video – beautiful photography, gorgeous landscapes, natives in colorful costumes, chickens running around, old women who have clearly had hard lives, smiling children who could use the services of a good dentist.

Apparently, China is encouraging its companies which are gearing up to compete with SpaceX to establish their base on Hainan Island. It is the most southerly part of China (get that equatorial velocity boost) with a clear open launch window over the width of the Pacific Ocean. Maybe if the US Blob continues to impede SpaceX with excessive regulation, SpaceX itself may end up on Hainan Island?
