London's Millennium Tower—When Ambition Collided with Reality

The London Millennium Tower, which was never built, should not be confused with the Leaning Tower of San Francisco, (see “Faulty Foundation—The Leaning Tower of San Francisco”, posted here on 2021-11-17), which was built, but now many wish hadn’t been.

The ultimate undoing of London’s Millennium Tower was the realisation that the 386 metre tower would be directly in the approach path to Heathrow Airport’s runways 27L and 27R, requiring inbound planes to dodge around the building, which doesn’t sound like such a great idea in the frequently foggy skies of London.
