Moore Is Different: “Generative Agents: Interactive Simulacra of Human Behavior”

This is amazing research. The authors say they were inspired by The Sims, but the simulation they created is arguably more advanced than that game despite having a simpler architecture. It would be interesting to compare the results of social and economic experiments involving generative agents with those of humans. In addition, I wonder what would happen if we were to scale up the simulation to hundreds of thousands or millions of generative agents. Can a large-scale simulation accurately model the social dynamics of human civilizations? That would be a very powerful tool indeed. The political bias built into ChatGPT would probably hamper such a simulation, but less-biased AI could (presumably) be substituted into the same architecture.
