I sure youve read that the UK’s paper currency will no longer feature Churchill. Nor Austen , Turing, Turner. No, just animals native to the British Isles. Churchill will be supplanted by a beaver. And they’re gonna hold, like, a contest, a referendum to choose other animals. NO domestic animals! Dogs are right put, as are pigs of course, although I wonder if that extends to wild boars? There probably aren’t any of them left there anyway.
I have a suggestion: why not use the cast of animal characters from “The Wind in the Willows”, as drawn by E.H. Shepard? Kenneth Graeme, the author, was a Scot. Those critters are just…incomparable! Toad of Toad Hall, Ratty, Moly, Badger..I mean come ON! They’re perfect, down to their monocles, spectacles, snuffboxes, their plaid coats, their deerstalker hats. Could anybody object?
