Recording and reproducing a sound track recorded on optical film as light intensity sounds pretty simple until you recall that frames of the movie must be projected with the film stationary behind the projection lens, and hence the film advances in a jerky fashion, frame per frame. And yet the sound recorded on the film must be reproduced at a smoothly-moving, uniform rate. How do they do that?
