Here is more information about the three designs which made it to the prototype stage:

All of these designs were eventually abandoned because the need to achieve a thrust to weight ratio greater than one limited fuel and armament capacity to impractically small values, while vertical landing (in particular, on moving small ships as envisioned by the Navy) required skills beyond those of squadron pilots.
