Recognising new territory ....

The first nation, Nicaragua, has recognised the new territories of Russia as part of the Russian Federation.
I am sure more will follow now that Nicaragua has been the first to break the tide.
NATO et al is in pure meltdown mode over Russia obviously winning the conflict in Ukraine.
NATO’s only hope for staying relevant is to escalate the conflict.

Do you think that more countries will follow?

Could happen. We see Euro countries (if we can still call them countries?) talking about recognizing “Palestine” – obviously simply as a way of sticking a finger in the eyes of Israel and the US, not out of any well-considered assessment of what is best for all the many peoples who inhabit the Middle East. I suspect that Nicaragua recognizing reality in Russia is analogously a move to assert their independence from the US.

A lot will depend on reactions. If the West (including especially the war-mongering Euros) react negatively to Nicaragua’s move, there could well be a landslide of similar recognitions by many of the UN’s 190+ members. If the West ignores Nicaragua’s move, then it is likely that other countries will simply not bother to make any changes.

Europe’s recognition of a Palestinian Hate (er- state) from the ashes of Holocaust is quite remarkable. It reminds me of the US “offshoring” manufacturing. Now, with so few Jews on site to despise, Europe is delegating its hatred to be implemented remotely against Israel.

I see not much point in discussion about Jews and Israel, since most minds are set in carbon fiber (modern materiel replacement for rebar) reinforced concrete on this subject. That’s why I have refrained from commenting on certain threads. I will only assert that no other ethnic majority state has ever faced the scrutiny and rejection as has the Jewish state. Depending upon the time at which one wishes to analyze the conquest or extermination of populations previously in place, were the standards by which Israel is judged applied to all nations at all times - there would be few or no legitimate nations in existence anywhere. I don’t doubt the underlying reason that Israel is the single exception.

What is also odd is the misunderstanding of the Haredim. Those folks most recognizably orthodox are those seeking the least influence on anything in the world. Their primary activity is study of Torah and believe one should work gainfully in the world only enough to provide basic necessities of material life. They seek to influence no one and no ideologies. These are the visible individuals, ironically, most likely to be attacked in the streets.

Also relevant is that many of them are religiously anti-Israel. Only the messiah can revive Israel. So Israel must be destroyed again for the messiah to revive it.

This is, indeed, the case. They trust God to protect them (or not). Yet, those who live in Israel seem to have it both ways. Reminds me of the mirror image of the slogan: “In God we trust, all others pay cash”.
