Robert Zubrin on Getting to Mars

Robert Zubrin is the founder of the Mars Society, created in 1998 to advocate for human exploration and settlement of Mars, designer of the Mars Direct mission plan, upon which NASA’s current Mars mission concepts are (very loosely) based, and founder and president of Pioneer Astronautics, a consulting and R&D firm in Colorado. He is author of numerous books about space and technology strategy including (links are to my reviews), Energy Victory, Merchants of Despair, and The Case for Space.

On 2022-10-28 he met with the Foresight Institute’s Space Group to discuss the history of Mars mission plans, what’s wrong with NASA’s Artemis program, and how SpaceX’s Starship may change the game for all endeavours in space.
