Shoddy Products, Fake Reviews, Fleeing Brands—Is Amazon Crumbling?

I wouldn’t single out Amazon here. Walmart, in its Zeal to compete with them is doing pretty much the same thing. For example, 2 TB SSD’s that actually have a capacity of 32 GB (it seems that doctoring SSDs and USB thumb drives to report larger capacities than they actually have is big business in China).

Of course, operations like TeMu, and AliExpress make Amazon and Walmart look good. For example on either of them you can today order a ‘Galaxy S24 Ultra’ phone.

Marketplace e-commerce companies (Amazon, Walmart) are basically turning themselves from being ‘retailers’ (that they’ve never really been) to basically being the last mile logistics companies.

Quite true, as evidenced by Walmart’s GoLocal initiative.

We have previously discussed the effects of US-subsidized mailing from China allowing things like the direct to consumer shipment of a $1 package of cheap electrical connectors from China.

Is there any subsidy involved in shipping larger volumes from China to Amazon warehouses?
