The Wolfram Institute will explore the emerging multi-computational paradigm in the areas of fundamental physics (as developed in the Wolfram Physics Project and the companion book A Project to Find the Fundamental Theory of Physics), metamathematics, and fields as diverse as economics, chemistry and molecular biology, linguistics, and distributed computing.
Computers have become essential tools in science, but most fields of science have not explored computation itself as a substrate for the physical processes we investigate. The Wolfram Institute will pioneer this new kind of science.
