First Germany, then Taiwan. West is clearly in retreat.

On the other hand …
on May 13, 2025, Taiwan’s opposition parties, the Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People’s Party, which control the parliament, amended a law to allow nuclear plants to extend their operating life by up to 20 years. This move reflects growing concerns about energy security, especially given Taiwan’s reliance on imported fossil fuels (over 97% of its energy) and rising electricity demand from its semiconductor industry and AI technology. The amendment doesn’t immediately halt the Maanshan closure but opens the door for potentially restarting idled reactors or extending operations in the future.

Their active nameplate nuclear capacity is 1.9MWe from 2 reactors combined.

But that’s about 1 state of the art reactor. So 4 new power stations with 4 reactors apiece would be about 30MWe nameplate or 25MWe real world. Seems like a good base.
