Reminds me of the phrase “ship of fools” (joke), but seriously, it’s a tragedy that they met an unfortunate end. I actually admire what they tried to do (but maybe not for the reason they did it)…there’s something pure about crossing vast stretches of ocean on a boat with just the wind and your wits (it’s what our ancestors had to do)…it’s also good practice for the coming apocalypse. I have fantasies about living on a boat in splendid isolation after “the event”, but I know it’s just that…a fantasy…I’ll be dead (or would be soon after) just like everyone else.
I’m sorry they died but not sorry for being dumb and ideological
Apparently, virtue signaling can be deadly.
Maybe it had nothing to do with the “green odyssey,” but if they did not have an emergency diesel generator, they were fools. If it is not needed, a backup diesel generator would not emit CO2, and their travels would be just as green as if it didn’t exist.
True – but think of all the CO2 that would have been emitted mining the materials, manufacturing, and transporting that backup generator to the boat. That’s why a true believer in the Anthropogenic Global Warming Scam could not possibly have a backup generator.
Then think about all the CO2 emitted building that boat, making the sails, and manufacturing the ropes. Probably enough CO2 to have stimulated the growth of a minor rain-forest. True believers are sincere … but they are neither sensible nor consistent.
Sincerity is overrated. Milton Friedman used to say that all the time. Lenin and Hitler were sincere.
The secret of success is sincerity. If you can fake that, you’ve got it made.
There has to be a Hunter Biden joke here:
Save the bales!
Obviously the final leg. If he carried it earlier on, how many subsequent torch bearers would fail drug tests?
Jordan said open seating was the top reason that travelers cited for choosing another airline over Southwest.
That would be me. I refuse to be rushed when traveling, and don’t want to suffer with a middle seat because of that.
I also buy business class seats for business travel. I was a regular customer of AirTran, and that carried over after Southwest bought them. Until they ended AirTran’s business seat options.
A fascinating thread - showing rhetorical techniques used by the Left to attack not just around gender but everywhere:
Typical. I think he missed a couple of tactics.
Guilt by association. You are associated with xyz and we already know they are bad so you must be bad.
The gossip tactic disguised as reporting. The hit piece hides the fact that this is the author’s opinion. It does this by attributing things to critics and offering the illusion that the author is just reporting on what the critics are saying. The difference is clear when an article doesn’t provide any rebuttal of the “critics”.
Nobody really likes people that attack other people. It is normal to question the motives of a person that is attacking another. To keep them from associating you with the attacking, you act as if you are just relaying information.
This is how gossip works. People often use gossip as a tool in an attempt to get what they want. This is a tactic often used by high school kids in the battle for popularity. The ability to attack others while lowering your social risk. “Did you know what they are saying about Mary?” “Oh yea, they are saying she is having sex with Joe the janitor.” If you say, “who cares”, then they will say something like “I don’t care either, but they also say she’s sleeping with your boyfriend”.
This is a typical girl example set in a time that sleeping around was socially unacceptable. Boys/men do the exact same thing, they just pick some socially unacceptable behavior of boys.
Paris Olympic officials attempted to offer more plant-based foods in an effort to reduce the Games’ carbon footprint. While there is a variety of cuisine available to accommodate the tastes of different countries — and an abundance of baguettes in France — vegan meals aren’t in line with what the athletes prefer to eat while competing.
One British athlete told the Times that the food situation is chaotic compared to the well organized facilities in Tokyo.
Note to the IOC:
No more Olympics in countries where the people are so stupid that their national flag is bidirectional so that they don’t worry about hanging it upside down.
Should be incompetency crisis too.
