?Who knew. Shows what the value of all this “art” really is, if it can be hung UNNOTICED upside down for 75 YEARS.

My take has been for a while that most so-called modern art is at best a practical joke, and at worst a scam.

I bet there’s no shortage of academic words printed on the deep meaning of Mondrian’s painting, and I would not be surprised if it included esoteric considerations around the particular aspect of its orientation

I would agree with you completely. MOST “modern art “ seems way too abstract to have any real meaning to anyone but the painter. I have way too much trouble interpreting immaterial “things” as being “real”. PERHAPS to the creator of such works there is “meaning” (though I suspect not), but for us to glean this exceeds my scope of reality.

Almost all these dreadful pieces of crap, called “modern art”, are just a way for millonaires to evade taxes.

It goes like this:

  • A millonaire hires some artist to draw literally anything for a few thousand dollars
  • Then they hire an appraiser which evaluates the piece at $10 million
  • A millonaire then donates the piece to a museum or art gallery and gets a tax write off for that
  • Then some hipsters act like they get the “art” and label us as uncultured swines for not getting it

Ivan blames Nigel and Bruce:

Russia claims to have identified the drones used in Black Sea Fleet attack

13:25

Russia’s defence ministry said it has recovered and analysed the wreckage of drones used to attack ships of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet in Crimea yesterday.

The ministry said its analysis showed that the drones were equipped with Canadian-made navigation modules for an attack that it said was carried out by Ukraine under British leadership, a claim Britain has denied.

I bet a lot of people in Japan are wishing they had these in 1941.

Biden and his handlers either have no concept of economics, or are massive liars, or both:

He is effectively enforcing an oil cartel.

I vote for both.

When the last referendum on independence for Scotland was held, the BBC and similar organs of the Powers That Be launched the first Operation Fear – which became the model for the later operations over Brexit and Covid. Part of that scare tactic was that Scotland would no longer be permitted to use the Pound Sterling as currency.

Kind of dumb, since people can use any currency that the other party to the transaction will accept. Hence the widespread use of US Dollars in many “independent” South American countries. Regardless, the EU may actually be playing smart for once (I know! Almost unthinkable!). If an independent Scotland would be required to switch to the Euro as part of rejoining the EU, it would rather tend to diffuse the Project Fear canard that they could no longer use the Pound.

Presumably, the Scots would want to take fishing and offshore drilling rights with them. If London let them, Brussels would not let them fully use those rights. Isn’t that a big reason why Norway is not in the EU?

In my last comment, every word other than “masks” and “Karen” was iOS predictive text.
