Takeaways:

  1. Unless Wakanda actually exists, much of that “Other” is India. Why not show it? Avoid embarrassing them?

  2. Who the heck are the smart people in Russia? It seems to be doing slightly better than the UK and Germany.

  3. It seems the source material Most Accurate National IQs Possible - by Sebastian Jensen does not account for inhomogeneous populations. A mean IQ 100 country with 50% group 1 with IQ mean 120 and 50% group 2 with IQ mean 80 (yes, I know this is imperfect due to asymmetries upward v. downward) will likely have many more geniuses than a mean 100 (or even a mean 105) country with a homogeneous population.

It’s worse than that. From Seb Jensen’s IQ page:

  • Is the average IQ in China really 101?
The average is inflated by several points because Eastern provinces and urban areas are oversampled. A nationally representative sample of China would probably score somewhere between 95 and 100.

Thus, the China slice of the pie chart is wrong, even according to the source material used in the post.

This points to the broader issue of using graphs taken from X without understanding or scrutiny. I subscribe to Jensen’s Substack and generally find him to be a careful researcher. Anyone who bothered to read his stuff would know that he doesn’t overstate the importance of IQ data. From his most recent Substack post:

I consider myself an “IQ lukewarmist”. I think IQ tests are generally decent measurements of intelligence. Said measurements tend to correspond well with financial success (explains ~25% of variance in permanent income and productivity) but not much else; correlations with other variables of interest like divorce risk, happiness, ideological beliefs, and taste tend to be null or disappointingly weak.

Even in terms of productivity, the 25% can be overwhelmed by cultural or other environmental factors. Only within the context of a common environment is IQ dominant. In short, that pie chart is misleading Twitter-slop.

It’s a good interview that gets the listener up to date on the woke situation at Penn and universities generally. Although I sympathize with her complaints about how the Trump administration is attacking DEI and anti-white discrimination, her approach is from a strictly legal point of view, which is not surprising given her profession. In the political sphere, other considerations come into play that explains why Trump et al. have chosen antisemitism to be the tip of the spear, as Ms. Coulter dubs it.

Grokipedia seems to be off to a good start. The article on Cultural Marxism is better than the Wikipedia article that so offended their CultMarxist censors.

There once was a reasonably useful article in Wikipedia on Cultural Marxism, without “conspiracy theory,” until the kooks deleted it c. 2020. Earlier versions may still be viewed at the Wayback Machine:

The conspiracy is far right and anti-Semitic. I love double jeopardy!
