Looking for a good read? Here is a recommendation. I have an unusual approach to reviewing books. I review books I feel merit a review. Each review is an opportunity to recommend a book. If I do not think a book is worth reading, I find another book to review. You do not have to agree with everything every author has written (I do not), but the fiction I review is entertaining (and often thought-provoking) and the non-fiction contain ideas worth reading.

“The Relentless War on Masculinity: Does it Ever End?” by David Maywald, Celebrating Masculinity, November 2025, 146 pages, $17.99 (Paperback), $3.99 (E-book), $14.95 (Audiobook)
Over the last decades a societal war on men was waged. Masculinity is now toxic. Recently, young while males were locked out of much of the white-collar job market. Boys are in an educational crisis. Marriage and fatherhood are being devalued. Noticing these trends is discouraged and opposition is disparaged.
“The Relentless War on Masculinity: Does it Ever End?” by David Maywald, documents what is happening and why it is happening. He shows the legacy modern misandry has created, the tools fourth-wave feminism uses to maintain a gynocentric culture, the struggles men and boys face today, and what solutions exist.
Maywald opens the book by showing in Western cultures, the Anglosphere and Nordic society especially, gynocentrism is real. He documents how courts, politics, education and job markets are stacked against men and favor women, often unfairly. He uses hard facts and statistics to buttress his arguments.
He then presents the fruits of the poisonous politics and disastrous social changes permeating modern Western Culture. He shows how feminism went from progress and equality to overreach and female domination of culture and society. He shows the dark side of identity politics.
He next examines modern feminism. He shows four tools they use to tilt the playing field: misandry, gamma bias, gynocentrism, and gaslighting. Misandry is the hatred of men, a core tenet of the most hard-core feminists. Gamma bias is a consistent asymmetry in observations and assumptions favorable to females. Gynocentrism is focus and concern on female perspectives and interests. Gaslighting is psychologically manipulating someone to believe what is reality is untrue. These combine to establish a society where women rule, and where questioning that reality is not allowed.
Even Maywald shows how much assumptions of modern feminism are internalized. At one point in the book he states “Lonely single men are labeled as ‘misogynists’ while feminists are labeled by their opponents as ‘feminazis.’” But the lonely men are not the counterpart to feminists. Most lonely men are lonely involuntarily. Feminists are voluntary activists in the arena fighting for their supremacy. The two groups are not the same.
He closes by examining the struggles faced in today’s society by boys and men, and a final chapter on solutions to the problem. He points out in an equal society there are no losers, men and women both win.
“The Relentless War on Masculinity” is worth reading. Maywald raised valid and significant issues which merit consideration and discussion.
