Trump Order Targets Political Debanking but Spares Visa, Mastercard, Payment...

I find ‘de-banking’ (including credit cards) to be particularly odious. Of all things regulated or required, these outfits should all be subject to “public accommodation” laws barring discrimination. It you want to be in business, you take all comers. The “reputational harm” nonsense is a clear example of how unscrupulous lawyering (is that redundant?) has just about ruined our republic.

How can there be reputational harm when most if not all bank account information is private and confidential?

I learned the Trump family was cancelled by Bank of America after Melania published her book recently

I couldn’t tell you who my relatives bank with or my neighbors

Edit: To your point about ‘public accomodation’ laws, de-banking is illegal and probably unconstitutional because banking regulators are interfering with interstate commerce.

Furthermore, Operation Chokepoint was all about Barry Obama: why are you cancelling us? Because Barry made us do it but we can’t tell you
