I wish I knew what was going on, but from my small, insignificant vantage point, I can honestly say that I have absolutely no idea. For me, any sense of patriotism or nationalism I once had is completely gone—for many reasons. The only thing we have left now is God, our families, and if we’re lucky, a couple of close, trust-worthy friends.
Could it be, given the observable degree of government agency competence overall, that the military has achieved the level of state DMV’s?
On the one hand, in a more mono-ethnic totalitarian state one can have nice formations of people wearing identically perfect uniforms and marching in synchronization wherein one soldier is no more than 1mm in height and 1cm stride different from the next. But how well can they field strip and clean their weapons?
The most disuniformly uniformed first world Army I’ve seen is Israel’s. They do not change the pattern much so that a reservist wearing a very old uniform washed many times can be next to someone with a fresh uniform.
There’s clearly a happy medium between the low-energy™ humiliation ritual that we witnessed on Saturday and a goose stepping, over-the-top (often “overcompensating-for-something”) display of parade precision. One of the main reasons for even having a parade—in particular, a military parade—is for the “pomp and circumstance” spectacle. I guess whoever planned our parade didn’t get that memo.
Yes, it does seem that the US is now suffering from a “Parade Gap”. Given the choice of watching the 250th Anniversary disappointment or watching a phalanx of heavily-armed attractive young North Korean ladies in white skirts and long black boots marching with the perfect precision of the Rockettes – well, it would be an easy choice!
The planners of that parade had to make a difficult choice – whether to go for a living museum of 250 years of history (great for military history buffs) or go for an impressive spectacle. The military leaders got it wrong – but compared to the mistakes they have made with over-priced under-performing missiles, planes, and ships, this mere $45 Million mistake was a rounding error.
The cavalry units should have galloped past the reviewing stand. The armor should have been consolidated into a fast-moving wall of steel. The helicopters should have dropped low and had soldiers rappelling down before marching off – but presumably the risk-averse military lawyers shut all that down.
For sure. I never had a problem with the cost of the parade. In fact, I would have preferred that they spent a whole lot more money on it if it ensured a better result. However, in some sense, I’m actually glad that the parade wasn’t a success from a propaganda / recruiting point-of-view. If it discourages just one young person from joining the military and dying or (worse) becoming maimed in a senseless war, then it’s all good in my books.
Totally! They should have hired you as a consultant! ![]()
I have long not wanted to be the person that diminishes hope for peace in the minds of people in the Ukraine war.
Soon we will officially call this war - WW3.
But, as we recently have had much hope being thrown at the media and now it seems that nothing will last.
Remember Pandora’s box?
Much peril and sickness was unleashed upon humanity but as hope was about to slip out the lid was closed on the box of Pandora.
Human only have false hope because we will not see reality.
Here my latest article about this conflict.
Europe is toast.
Humanity will survive.
Alas, I think you’re right. One of those times I hope that I’m wrong.
Europe will fight till the last American.
Your cold war, and thereafter analysis is flawed.
This is NOT a new conflict, NATO has wanted to attack USSR - now primarily Russia - since 1949, since NATO’s inception.
This ignores the fact that the current anti-Russia interests, and even people, were largely the prior pro-Soviet interests and people.
They are also largely the same interests and people who seek to destroy the US and Europe with Third World immigration.
Who is pulling the strings? From a country perspective, the main winner is China. A war between Russia and the US will leave a unipolar world centered on China.
As many people have pointed out, Europe is toast – regardless of what happens in the Ukraine. Unlimited illegal migration (encouraged by the Powers That Be) will do that to any country, especially when the local ladies do not reproduce. Apparently, about half the fighting-age males in France are already Muslim.
And then there is the whole Powers That Be denigration of European culture (England’s St George’s Cross is racist, they say!). And their dreadfully dumbed-down educational system. To say nothing of their de-industrialization and their unsupportable debt burdens.
The situation in the Ukraine could accelerate Europe’s decline. but fixing the Ukraine peacefully will not stop it.
It iw worth recalling that South America, Egypt, Asia had vibrant civilizations when Europeans were still running around with paint on their faces murdering each other. Big Wheel keeps on turning. Europe had its day in the sun, and soon it will be someone else’s chance. The human race will survive!
Will it? Whoever controls UK & France will inherit at least scores of nukes, mounted on long range delivery vehicles - arriving soon to a country/county near you. History bodes ill since 622, for infidels on the periphery.
Oh yes, humanity will survive.
Are you an atheist ?
I believe in God, no the one from the church or whatever building.
God as energy, or universal laws.
That is intelligence pure, and sometimes IT manifest in a human body !
That is a miracle.
Here the latest reality check, if you believe that Europe is fine.
US will do well and Europe not so …
I think the nuclear threat is vastly overblown. Nuclear weapons are not required to take over the West. Quite franky, our “leaders” are more of a threat than Islam is.
Today, different religions are like oil and water, they do not mix well.
Today, only Russia is a good example where it is possible for different religions to live together in peace.
If there is no hope for the people, look to any place on earth, then any minor thing is blown out of proportion, and take centre stage.
We will “eat” each other and the “elite” will live happy ever after.
We can only regain hope of a better life if the “elite” is shown the door.
I am positive and think that this will happen in the coming decade.
This simply cannot continue (this I also said in 2015, and today I see how naive I was and probably still am).
Interestingly, the Head Boy in Germany agrees with you – while committing to send more borrowed money to Zelensky and threatening to send soldiers too.
Merz issues stark warning about future of welfare state — RT World News
Germany’s welfare state is no longer financially sustainable, Chancellor Friedrich Merz has warned, citing mounting financial constraints. …
“The welfare state as we have it today can no longer be financed with what we can economically afford,” Merz said, calling for a fundamental reassessment of the benefits system.
Thus the German “leadership” faces the kind of choice which will loom increasingly large for the entire global Political Class – on what should they spend their limited resources? Military support for the post-democratic Zelensky regime, or benefits for which German workers have paid? We can probably guess the answer!
The real rotten foundation of today’s “democracies” is the debt problem – remembering that one man’s debt is another man’s asset. Somebody is going to get screwed – probably us. But that will not be the end of the story.
The war in Ukraine is having some amusing consequences for Europe. Eurocrat Sabine Weyand, Director-General for Trade at the EU explains why Europe got the short end of the stick in trade negotiations with Trump. Snippets with comments:
“If you haven’t heard me use the word ‘negotiation,’
it’s because there wasn’t one.” With this sentence, Sabine Weyand describes the geopolitical price Europe has paid for stability.
Time pressure due to security concerns: “There was no exchange of demands or offers,” [i.e., the deal was imposed by the US]
“We have a land war on the European continent. And we are completely dependent on the United States. The member states were not prepared to take the risk of further escalation—that would have been the consequence of European countermeasures.” [The EU states are satrapies of the US.]
Complete news item:
Good grief, Germany has been squandering resources on the immigrated welfare class – but Ukraine is a very solid investment.
Analyst Dr. Doctorow has noted a sharp change in Russian news coverage over the prosecution of the war in the Ukraine. It seems that President Trump’s and VP Vance’s aspersions on Russian military status, including the “paper tiger” jibe, received more attention in Russia than in the US. What can this mean? Probably nothing good for the Zelensky regime and its cheerleading girls in Europe.
Is Vladimir Putin about to be overthrown in a palace coup?
“I see two possibilities to explain the harsh criticism of Putin’s war of attrition on television. The first, as I say at the outset, is that political forces which are prepared to oust Putin and replace him with a more aggressive figure are preparing the public for what is about to happen. The other possibility is that Putin himself is about to change course and do what a large part of Russia’s political establishment wants: namely to attempt a decapitation strike against the Zelensky regime using Oreshniks and other strike missiles to wipe out the neo-Nazi, deeply anti-Russian gang that has held Ukraine by the neck ever since the February 2014 coup d’etat.”
I am getting the impression the EU is planning a definitive false flag operation. There have been several reports of supposed incursions by Russian drones into NATO airspace. Victor Orban and Alexandr Dugin are both warning of WWIII. The US, according to several reports, has deployed additional refueling tanker aircraft and fighters somewhere in either Europe of the Middle East. Multiple commentators pointed out this is just what happened before the strikes on Iran. Several have suggested the big meeting with 100 generals, Trump & Hegseth may have been cover for a smaller, more urgent meeting about impending strikes. That’s a lot of smoke. I fear something is about to happen.
Do you really think EU is capable of such coordination? ![]()
