Vacuum Tube Computer Part 24: Designing the Memory Element

After exploring a variety of alternatives, a vacuum tube flip-flop structure is chosen as the fundamental memory cell for the vacuum tube computer. This is a set-reset cell storing one bit of memory in two vacuum tubes, one of which is a vacuum fluorescent display also serving as a status readout. The architecture is similar to a semiconductor static memory cell and retains memory as long as power is applied.
