Weekly Space Report: Nah! No Need to Catch the Booster!

A little thin this week. Highlights:

  • Ship 35 static fires (streamed @ 4k)

  • Booster 14 moved to launch tower. But returned to build site later.

  • FAA license updated specifically for TF9. No Booster Catch.

  • Flight 8 mishap report submitted to the FAA and is under review.

  • Pad B big (double crane) lift to place the new Orbital Launch Mount.

  • Water bag stress testing on Pad B stubby lifting arms.

  • Test tank 17 closeups show next booster design changes. Optimized engine placement.

  • Final demolition at Star Factory to prepare for the Gigabay.

  • Old high bay demolition progress

  • Next sections of Ship 38 spotted.

  • New Section possibly for Booster 18 spotted.

  • Falcon 9: Starlink 15-4, Starlink 6-83, Starlink 6-67, Starlink 5-15

  • Gilmour Space anticipated test flight #1 scrubbed.

Unstated in the article, but clearly there is a need for a huge amount of electric power to drive the plasma engine. Solar panels are not going to do it. Looks like the unstated assumption is that some form of nuclear reactor will be required to power the plasma drive.

But that’s OK. It is Outer Space, and there are no snail darters or other endangered species for Greenies to be concerned about.

(As a side note, there are several endangered species of raptors which are being cut to pieces by wind farms – but for some unknowable reason, the loss of those birds does not concern your average Greenie).
