The original 1960s Apollo spacecraft communication hardware restored and tested in parts 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 now makes the acquaintance of 21st century Software Defined Radio (SDR), which replaces arcane microwave magic with a very fast computer running software that examines the digitised signal from an antenna in real time.

Will SDR allow decoding the voice downlink from the “spacecraft” at the other end of the test bench?
