I wonder if Elon Musk believes rhetoric about replacing the 16th amendment with tariffs. I’ve been hammering in the only ways that I have on Musk about replacing the 16th amendment in a way that would of course make him richer but also manufacture a lot more Elon Musk’s without manufacturing a lot more monopolists to regulate hence to engage in regulatory capture.

In terms of hypocrisy, I see little difference between entering the country under false pretenses (and breaking the law in the process) and jumping a fence.
The fact is that he broke laws that were enacted to prevent the fraudulent use of student visas to enter the country for purposes other than getting an education.
Perhaps immigration laws are only for the poor and destitute, but not those who can afford to hire lawyers to game the system, just as they do to help them evade paying taxes, one of Trump’s bragging points.
I will keep it simple and consistent.
Pause immigration including student visas.
Build a fence, call it Chesterton.

Let’s face facts. Immigration law in the US is even more of a corrupt mess than the rest of what our “democratic” government does to us.
I worked with a Chinese lady. She had a first-class education in China, and industry experience. She came to the US to get an MS at a name-brand STEM university, and stayed to complete a PhD. Then she legally got a high-tech job with a US company and filed to be allowed to remain in the US. Our wonderful “Government” rejected her! At the same time as they were handing out Obama phones and debit cards to non-English-speaking illiterates who wandered over the border.
“Legal” immigration is just a huge money-making machine for lawyers. Illegal immigration is just another huge money-making machine for lawyers. It is obvious where the problem lies.

Yes, and we will use taxpayer dollars to bail out the higher education systems that ultimately fail because they have no foreign students enrolled, which for many is what keeps them afloat.
The MAGA movement is largely emotion-based rather than fact-based. Zombie voters that believe anything Donald Trump tells them.

Higher education is an expensive racket: useless departments and faculty, indoctrinated students who are politically strident, spineless administrators. We have to accelerate its failure or burn it down.
It’s become fairly common to see the education system attacked. What almost every one of its attackers has in common, is that they hold ideological beliefs that an overwhelming majority of students don’t agree with or conform to, and of course, it’s not because their largely fact-based views are right or correct, but rather, its the education system that brainwashed them to think in ways that are incompatible with the ideology of their attackers.
For example, take the absurd claim that climate change is merely a hoax. Most students won’t fall for that, so what else can the climate change deniers-turned-doubters do, other than attack the students and the system they believe brainwashed them.

NYC issued cards that could only be used for food, and that was because Texas was sending migrants there, and they had to do something. However, the claim that illegals get unrestricted Obama phones and ‘debit cards’ has been debunked many times over.
One major shortcoming is the absence of free speech: dissenting ideas are suppressed. Students or faculty with ‘unpopular’ opinions are blackmailed into silence.

Other than heresy and rumor, what facts does the author present showing a deliberate intent to purge right-wing educators solely because they are right-leaning, rather than because of their tendency to engage in ideological rants.
Many right-leaning educators were kicked out because they cross the line between educating and promoting their own brand of ideology, a characteristic shared with islam.
There’s a difference between an accredited institution for higher learning, and a bible school.

Thing is, making generalization based on a profession is bad. Making generalizations based on political affiliation is bad. On these pages you’ll see a pretty civil conversation between Andrew Gelman, a Liberal Columbia professor of Political Science - and Steve Sailer, a (neo-reactionary?) Republican. It can be done.
One of the factors which is not discussed in polite circles is that the majority of those indoctrinated students are now female, and most of them run up massive student loan debts to pay for their own indoctrination in silly subjects. Perhaps part of the reason for the society-destroying unsustainably low birth rates is that under-educated over-indebted females do not make attractive spouses.
Meanwhile, in the remaining STEM departments, many of the female students are from China and India, here to get a serious education. But if any of them want to stay in the US after graduation and become productive contributing members of our society, they will face a nearly impenetrable barrier of lawyer-enriching bureaucracy. Apparently, those are not the kind of immigrant women Our Betters want.
Of course it’s not hard to find at least one left-leaning educator that agrees with the idea that there should be diversity in educators. I agree with that too. What I don’t agree with are right-leaning educators that preach from the lectern, and I belive that has a lot more to do with the disparity, than pure ideological bias.
So the problem as I see it, is the fact that all educators don’t respect that line they shouldn’t cross.
