ISRO Launch Vehicle Mark III / OneWeb 18 Launch

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched a Launch Vehicle Mark III rocket (formerly called the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III) on 2023-03-26 at 03:30 UTC to place 36 OneWeb Internet communication satellites into a 450 km 87.4° inclination circular orbit. Launch was from Launch Pad 2 at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, India.

This launch completes OneWeb’s contract with ISRO to launch 72 of its OneWeb satellites in two launches of 36 each (the first was posted here on 2022-10-22). OneWeb had been launching on Soyuz boosters operated by Arianespace, but moved to a mix of SpaceX and ISRO launches after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and subsequent imposition of sanctions. Commercial launches on ISRO rockets are operated by NewSpace India Ltd. (NSIL).
