January 2025 Southern California Wildfires

Cal Matters issued a correction: the state will charge insurers who will then pass the cost to customers, funny how works…

For the record: An earlier version of this story misstated how the FAIR Plan assessment will be charged to consumers. It will be passed along by insurance companies, not charged by the FAIR Plan.

I also shared the article and report on Reddit (Pacific Palisades sub Reddit).

Very disappointed but not surprised that more than a few Palisades residents continue to blame climate change and bash Caruso while defending the execrable Karen Bass.

My favorite comment:

Breitbart has nothing to do with this. The report is independent research. See link in OP. The point is that the winds were manageable. There has been an undercurrent of “OMG THERE WERE 100MPH WINDS EVERYWHERE AND NOBODY IS TO BLAME AND NO PREPARATION COULD HAVE MADE THIS BETTER BECAUSE CLIMATE!” when in fact we know from this report (and from simply being there on the day) that was not the case. The winds were not extreme during the 10-4 period. The report constrains itself to wind speed and does not get into any other issues.

The Santa Ynez Reservoir has reopened — months after the devastating Palisades Fire.

Los Angeles locals and officials aren’t happy with the delay.

“While I’m glad it’s now back in service, the Santa Ynez Reservoir has been offline since early 2024, including on the one day in history it was needed most,” Los Angeles City Councilwoman Traci Parks said in a statement, referring to the Palisades Fire. The blaze started Jan. 7 and burned more than 23,000 acres.

Interesting! This is essentially the Chinese pattern of urban development – massive multi-story apartments built around mass transit stations. I guess this kind of development will make the Chinese feel more at home when they take over California – it seems they have already taken over the California legislature!

Look on the bright side. When the CCP does take over California, there won’t be any “homeless” encampments or street crime, and the refineries & steel mills will re-open creating jobs & wealth. The average Californian might be quite pleased.

Today we are announcing the arrest of 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht on a criminal complaint charging him with maliciously starting what became the Palisades Fire in January.
