I really liked that movie. Aren’t you surprised that it was made by a bunch of lefties? I guess it was before they latched on to the Our Democracy thing. This was during David Mamet’s brain-dead liberal era. He got better about 10 years later.

Yes, I did too (in fact, I own it on DVD). The song (apart from its ironic intent) isn’t that bad either from a purely musical point-of-view—the composer, Tom Bahler, is a genuine talent.

I remember how, during the Iraq war, many “lefties” (and I really hate referring to the left/right paradigm because it’s a mind-control mechanism) would scream “Bush lied, people died”. At the time I thought they were traitorous, foamed at the mouth lunatics. Now, I think they were geniuses—certainly much smarter than I was—and they were 100% correct.

About Polymarket:

Polymarket operates on the Ethereum blockchain through a Layer-2 scaling solution called Polygon to enhance scalability and reduce transaction costs. [1][2][3][4][5]

Key points:

  • Polymarket leverages Polygon to handle high transaction volumes efficiently without overloading the Ethereum network. [2][3][4][5]
  • Polygon is a $6.6 billion market that aims to improve Ethereum’s scalability by processing transactions off-chain on a related sidechain. [3]
  • This Layer-2 integration allows Polymarket to offer low-cost and near-instant trades, which are critical for a well-functioning on-chain prediction market. [3][5]
  • Polymarket chose to build on Polygon because it was the most advanced Layer-2 solution at the time, enabling the platform’s rapid growth. [5]

Google is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire the Israeli cloud cybersecurity company Wiz for $23 billion, marking a significant move in the tech and cybersecurity sectors.

Key Details of the Acquisition

  • Deal Size and Significance: The acquisition, if finalized, would be the largest ever for both Google and an Israeli company. This deal surpasses Google’s previous largest acquisition of Motorola for $12.5 billion in 2012[1][5].

  • Wiz’s Background: Wiz was founded in early 2020 by Assaf Rappaport, Yinon Costica, Ami Luttwak, and Roy Reznik, who previously sold their company Adallom to Microsoft for $320 million. Wiz has rapidly grown, securing hundreds of millions in revenue and serving 40% of the Fortune 100 companies[2][5].

  • Strategic Importance for Google: The acquisition is seen as a strategic move to bolster Google’s cloud security capabilities, positioning it more competitively against Amazon and Microsoft in the cloud services market. Wiz’s advanced security platform is expected to enhance Google’s cybersecurity offerings significantly[3][4].

Added: if Trump/Vance win, they may block it. Vance hates Google. He has written about changing their status to public utility. In my view, they should break up search and advertising.

However much you hate the media, it’s not enough. Fortunately, Mollie Hemingway helpfully quantified this.

Connection to the internet: Is this indeed necessary to account for tampering? Wasn’t Stuxnet introduced via a single insertion of a thumb drive into a USB port? Might not that mechanism be used to tamper with “air-gapped” machines?
